Which Type Of Sprinkler Is Best For My Yard?

10179147_sIf you are anything like most homeowners, it is important to you that your lawn be looking its best. This includes being manicured and properly watered. This takes a lot of work and time, one of the best ways to make lawn care more efficient is to install a sprinkler system.

There are several different types of sprinkler systems that can help you care for your lawn. Here are some of the more popular types:

Spray Head. These sprinklers come in two versions: either shrub or pop-up. The shrub bodies are designed to spray water over plants and blades of grass, therefore the spray heads are affixed to the top of a vertical pipe that stands above the ground. The pop-up body is set to “pop” out of the protective casing that it rests in, which is installed under the ground. This system is aesthetically pleasing because, unless the system is in use, sprinklers are completely out of sight. Spray head sprinkler systems are the most popular because they are cost effective, easily installed, and available at any home improvement store.

Drip Systems. These systems are very versatile in that they allow water to be applied directly to the soil and down to the root. Drip systems are very useful in garden beds where root vegetables are being grown. With the direct delivery of water there is less opportunity for wasted water and water bills are reduced. Drip systems have been shown to have a 90% success rate when it comes to garden growth.

Gear-Driven Rotors. When you think of sprinklers if you hear a “click click click” noise in your head – these are gear-driven rotor sprinkler heads. These sprinkler heads use multiple streams of water that rotate in various directions to hydrate your yard, lawn, or garden. These systems come in various sizes and the larger ones are able to send a stream of water to a distance of up to 50 feet.

With the spring season in full effect many people are spending more time outdoors playing in the yard, working in the garden, and keeping care of their lawns. If you would like an efficient and cost-effective way to get your foliage and lawn watered – look into any one of these sprinkler systems.
